JOHN M. AZARIAN
John M. Azarian is the owner of
The Azarian Group, L.L.C.,
a commercial real estate management and development company which
owns/manages/develops 19 shopping centers, 17 in Northern New Jersey
and two in New York State,including two office buildings, one medical
building and one apartment complex.
The Azarian Group's properties total approximately
1,000,000 square feet in size and include approximately 300 tenants.
Mr. Azarian is also the owner of
Azarian Realty Co.,
a commercial real estate brokerage firm, which specializes in the
leasing and property management of commercial properties. He is a
licensed real estate broker in the states of New Jersey and New
York.
Mr.. Azarian has also acted as a
court appointed rent receiver / property manager for shopping
centers, apartment buildings and residential condominium complexes.
He is presently working on several such assignments as well as
acting as Property Manager for several such properties for a major
regional bank.
Mr. Azarian
graduated from Saddle River Day School, Saddle River, New Jersey (SRDS).
He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Business Management, where he was active in
numerous clubs and activities, including his role as Editor of the
school newspaper, "The Gauntlet".
Mr. Azarian is a former President of the
Alumni Association of SRDS (where he served an unprecedented six year term), as well as a
former member of the school’s Auction Committee, Board of Trustees Marketing
Committee, Golf Outing Committee (he served on these committees for
many years) and co-chair of the Board's SRDS 50th
Anniversary Committee. Mr. Azarian also received the
Distinguished Alumni Award in 2007. In 2009, he received the
designation of Alumni Association President Emeritus, the first ever
in the history of SRDS. In 2010, John and
Donna Azarian were the honored couple at the SRDS
Auction / Dinner Dance (the fourth couple / family to be honored in
the school's 50+ year history).
Mr. Azarian is a
member of the Board of Trustees of St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC),
Sparkhill, New York. He is a Member of the Development,
Audit, and Aquinas Medal committees and Vice President of the Investment and Finance
committee. He is a
past member of the Planning Committee for the 2002 Aquinas Medal and he has also served as a guest lecturer for
numerous business classes at STAC.
Mr. Azarian is an adjunct professor in the Division of
Business Administration of STAC where he teaches a weekly
undergraduate class. He introduced Tony Conza, the founder of
Blimpie, to STAC and Mr. Conza was the guest speaker at STAC's 2010
Honors Convocation. The Azarian
Group, L.L.C. is an MBA Business Partner of STAC.
Mr. Azarian is a member of the Advisory Board of the
Center for
Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Ramapo College, Mahwah, New Jersey.
He has been an active member of the
International
Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) since 1981. As such,
Mr. Azarian has attended numerous conferences, seminars,
conventions, institutes and other professional forums on shopping
center and commercial real estate matters. He has also attended and graduated from ICSC sponsored
educational seminars and programs including the University of Shopping Centers
and Management Institute I and Management Institute II. Mr.
Azarian was awarded the prestigious Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM)
designation from the ICSC in 1991.
He
is the president of the John M. Azarian Memorial
Armenian Youth Scholarship Fund, which was created in memory of his
late father, and which annually awards scholarship awards to
underprivileged college students of Armenian descent.
Mr. Azarian
has
written numerous articles for professional publications, including
“Commercial Lease Law Insider”; “The Real Estate Newsletter”; "NJ/PA
Real Estate Journal"; "Northeast Real Estate Business"; "Mid
Atlantic Real Estate Journal" and others. Mr. Azarian has
been interviewed about commercial real estate on Channel 7
Eyewitness News, as well as for numerous newspapers and magazines
such as “The New York Times”; “Newark Star Ledger”; “The Record”;
“Poughkeepsie Journal”; “Hyde Park Townsman”; “The Town Journal”;
“AIM Community News”; "Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal";
"Commercial Lease Law Insider" and others. He has been
featured in "Fortune Small Business (FSB)" (May, 2004) and "Worth"
(March, 2008) magazines, and has appeared on television on "Hollywood Treasure", Home and Garden Television (HGTV),
"Personal F/X" on F/X, and the "Don and Mike Radio Show" . Mr.
Azarian
was also involved with the development, production and casting of a
television commercial about the American Way Outlet Mall and also
had a starring role in the commercial. He has served
on numerous Bankruptcy Creditors’ Committees, as Chairman as well as
an active member.
Mr. Azarian is the Managing General Partner, General Partner,
Managing Member, Manager, Principal Manager, Limited Partner and Member of numerous
real estate entities and
the president of the Azarian Building Condo Association, Inc.
John M. Azarian
is an
active member of St. Leon's Armenian Church, Fair Lawn, New Jersey
where he has served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.
He is a
past active member of St. Mary’s Armenian Church, Livingston, New
Jersey where he was an elected member of the Parish Council, and
served as Church Treasurer for two terms, he was also a member of the annual Food
Festival Committee, and Youth Group Advisor (which was an
organization he started at the
church).

DONNA M. AZARIAN
Donna M. Azarian is
the owner of Azarian Agency, an insurance and financial services
company, which provides property and casualty, life and health
insurance and financial services to the public. She is affiliated
with A+ rated companies and provides insurance and financial
services. She is also the owner of Azarian
and Associates, a full service accounting firm.
Mrs. Azarian
graduated from William Paterson University with a Bachelor of
Science degree in Women’s Studies. She is also a licensed real
estate broker in New Jersey and specializes in commercial real estate sales,
leasing, and property management.
Mrs. Azarian
has been an active member of the International
Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) since 1984 and has attended
and completed University of Shopping Centers programs and Management I and Management II Institutes as well as
attending numerous
seminars and conventions. She is also a member of the
National Association of Female Executives (NAFE), a member of the
Ringwood Chamber of Commerce, a member of the West Essex Chamber of
Commerce, and the Vice President of the John M. Azarian Memorial
Armenian Youth Scholarship Fund, a non-profit organization.
Mrs. Azarian
is a past member of the Washington School PTO,
the Wyckoff Service Unit Team of Lenni Lenape Girl Scouts, leader of
the Washington School Daisy Troop #1059, leader of the Washington
School Brownie Girl Scout Troop #481, and a past member and Sunday
School teacher at St. Mary’s Armenian Church, Livingston, New
Jersey. She is an active member of St. Leon's Armenian Church,
Fair Lawn, New Jersey where she has served as a Sunday School teacher and Pageant
Director. Mrs. Azarian is also a past member of the Saddle River
Day School Auction Committee, Development Committee, Upper School Liaison and
she served as a member of the school's 50th Anniversary Committee,
as well as President of the Saddle River Day School Parents' Guild.
Mrs. Azarian is a past president of the Shadow Lake Club
Association, Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. In 2010 Mr. and Mrs.
Azarian were the honorees at the annual Saddle River Day School Auction
/ Dinner Dance.

BARBARA
AZARIAN-McCULLOUGH, Ph.D.
Our Founder
Dr. McCullough has been
in the practice of Public Accounting since 1960. Azarian
and Company, the accounting firm which she and her late husband
John M. Azarian, Sr. started in Paterson, New Jersey in 1959, then moved to Hawthorne,
New Jersey in 1972 and later moved to Midland Park, New Jersey. In 1972,
Dr. McCullough founded Azarian Management
Company (renamed The Azarian Group, L.L.C.), which
specializes in the management and development of commercial real
estate.
She
was an active
member of the National Society of Public Accountants; New Jersey
Society of Public Accountants; International Council of Shopping
Centers; a past Vice President and Treasurer of the Hawthorne
Chamber of Commerce; Bergen County Chamber of Commerce; past
President and Treasurer of the Northwest Bergen Special Education
Association; past Treasurer of the Memorial Day Nursery of Paterson;
Hawthorne High School Advisory Council; past President of the Mr.
and Mrs. Guild of St. Leon's Armenian Church; former member of the
Wyckoff Board of Education; former member of the Adjunct Board of
Directors of Horizon Bancorp; former member of the Ramapo / Indian
Hills Board of Education; former assistant leader of the Wyckoff
Brownies; and former Director of the Wyckoff Learning Center.
Dr. McCullough received
an Honorary Doctorate degree from St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill,
NY in April, 2000.
She has been a Board of Trustee
member of St.
Thomas Aquinas College since 1990. In 2010 Dr. McCullough was
honored with the title of Board of Trustee member Emeritus. She designed and donated the Azarian-McCullough
Art Gallery at St. Thomas Aquinas College and was awarded the
prestigious Aquinas Medal in 2002. Dr. McCullough has been a
member of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Alliance Federal
Credit Union (formerly Central Bergen Federal Credit Union) since
1985. In 2010 Dr. McCullough was honored with the title of
Board of Trustee member Emeritus.
She and her first husband co-authored a book entitled American Teachers Tax
Guide and Portfolio. Dr. McCullough also established the John
M. Azarian Memorial Armenian Youth Scholarship Fund in memory of her husband, and each year the fund awards scholarships to
undergraduate college students of Armenian descent who demonstrate
compelling financial need. Dr. McCullough is an active member
of St. Leon's Armenian Church, Fair Lawn, New Jersey.
She graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson
University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
Prior to the ownership of her accounting firm, Dr. McCullough was associated
with her late husband, John M. Azarian, C.P.A., in the practice of
accounting for 18 years.
She
is twice widowed and has one living son and four grandchildren.

PAUL E. McCULLOUGH
(1939-2007)
Mr. McCullough was involved with developing real
estate since the mid-1960s. He worked for the Southland
Corporation (7-Eleven) in their real estate division for five years;
McDonald’s Corporation in their real estate division for 15 years;
and for the Pillsbury Corporation for eight years as Senior Vice
President of Real Estate (primarily as a Vice President of Real
Estate for Bennigan's and Steak and Ale). Twenty years ago he began developing and
managing shopping centers with his own company, McCullough
Development Company.
Mr. McCullough
graduated from Freeport High School, Freeport,
Pennsylvania; the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of
Science in Structural Engineering; and from the University of
Delaware with a Masters in Business Administration.
He
was a past member of the International Council of Shopping Centers;
past member of the New Castle Chamber of Commerce; past member of
the International Council of Boy Scouts; Past Scout Master (Troop
259); Cub Scout Leader Local New Castle Pack 71; and former "Big
Brother" and consultant in drug rehabilitation with St. James
Episcopal Church. He was also an Episcopal Young Children
Leader at St. James and a member of the Tarentum Moose (Loom 71).
Mr. McCullough was an
active member of St. Leon's Armenian Church.
In 2002 he was awarded the prestigious Aquinas Medal by St. Thomas
Aquinas College, Sparkhill, New York.
He is married with five children, one living step
son, eight
grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
Sadly, Mr. McCullough passed away on October 14, 2007.
