Nick’s Hope

Azarian Realty Co. has leased 1,140 SF in Milton Shopping Plaza to Nick’s Hope, a charitable organization that provides free clothing to those in need and operates as a thrift store. The firm represented ownership in this transaction.

Nick’s Hope was founded in March 2020 by Nick’s mother, Laura, and her best friend Melissa. Nick was a young man of 31 that passed away suddenly in January of 2017. Just a few weeks prior to his death, he came across a homeless man in Dover on a very cold night and gave the coat off his back to him. After Nick’s passing, Laura and Melissa wanted to do something in memory of Nick. They remembered the selfless act and it inspired them to begin Nick’s Hope. “We agreed that we would do this in Nick’s honor and to continue what he started,” says Laura. “It’s been an emotional and inspiring journey to keep his spirit alive while helping others as he did bring us hope.”

Nick’s Hope collects gently used clothing from communities in Morris, Sussex, & Passaic counties. The clothes are examined, washed, and then distributed to neighbors in need. This is accomplished through pop-up events with local pantries as well as through an online clothing shop where clients are given a special code to shop online for free.

Now that Nick’s Hope has a store front location in Milton Shopping Plaza, operations will be easier for volunteers to work under one roof. Additionally, the location will operate as a retail thrift store where 100% of the proceeds will help pay for distribution expenses. Lastly, having a physical location allows Nick’s Hope to have a presence in the community and increase the exposure to reach those in need.

Nick’s Hope plans to open in Milton Shopping Plaza in the end of March 2022.

Milton Shopping Plaza is a 55,000 SF strip center located at the intersection of Berkshire Valley Road and Chamberlain Road in Oak Ridge, New Jersey. The strip center is anchored by the Lakeland Bank Training Headquarters. Between 1,660 and 2,500 SF is still available for lease.
